The latest addition to Ford's line-up, the Ford Ranger Plug-In Hybrid Electric Vehicle (PHEV), boasts impressive torque and features two electric outlets in the bed, offering up to 6.9 kilowatts of power for tools and appliances.

- Hybrid Power: Powered by a 2.3-litre petrol engine and an electric motor integrated into the 10-speed automatic transmission, the Ranger PHEV delivers a combined 279 horsepower and 509 pound-feet of torque, surpassing the Ranger Raptor's standard torque.
- Electric Motor: The 75-kilowatt (100-horsepower) electric motor can operate independently or in conjunction with the combustion engine, ensuring four-wheel drive functionality even when the gasoline engine is off.
- Battery and Range: Equipped with an 11.8-kWh battery pack, the Ranger PHEV provides a WLTP range of over 28 miles. Charging from empty to full takes under four hours.
- EV Driving Modes: Four driving modes are available—Auto EV, EV Now, EV Later, and EV Charge—allowing drivers to optimize their driving experience.
- Power Outlets: The standard 2.3 kW electrical outlet in the bed is perfect for powering tools, with an optional upgrade offering two 15-amp outlets delivering a combined 6.9 kW.
- Payload and Towing: With a revised suspension, the Ranger PHEV can carry up to 2,205 lbs and tow up to 7,716 lbs, making it a more capable option compared to the smaller Maverick, which tows up to 4,000 lbs and carries a maximum payload of 1,500 lbs.
- Availability and Trim Levels: Set to launch in Europe in spring 2025, the Ranger PHEV will be available in Wildtrak and XLT trims, with a special Stormtrak launch edition featuring premium extras like 18-inch wheels, LED headlights, a 360-degree camera system, and a 10-speaker B&O sound system.
Production and Global Debut
The European version of the Ranger PHEV will be manufactured in Silverton, South Africa. While there's no confirmed date for its arrival in the UK, a global debut suggests that it will be available some time in 2025.
