Gloucestershire starts rollout of 1,000 EV charging points
Gloucestershire County Council is taking steps to make electric vehicle charging more accessible with the installation of 1,000 charging points over the next three years.
This initiative is particularly important for about a third of Gloucestershire residents who do not have off-street parking.
The council has partnered with Connected Kerb to install and manage the chargers in public areas.
The first 26 locations have already been chosen based on feedback from residents, and work has begun on their installation. In response to feedback, the council is ensuring that many locations have twin charge points, allowing four electric vehicles to charge simultaneously in areas with limited parking.
The scheme is funded by the county council and the On Street Residential Chargepoint Scheme (ORCS) from the Office for Zero Emission Vehicles.
This initiative aims to encourage more people in Gloucestershire to switch to electric vehicles and contribute to the fight against climate change.
