Introducing the Triumph TR25
Introducing the Triumph TR25: A Concept Car Celebrating Triumph's 100th Birthday
After a 40-year break, Triumph cars are making a comeback with the stunning TR25 concept from Makkina. This car not only pays homage to the iconic Triumph TR2 but also celebrates Triumph's automotive centenary.
The TR2 made waves in the 1950s by setting a new land speed record for production cars with engines under 2.0 litres. With its aerodynamic design and impressive speed of 124.889mph, it outperformed its competitors.
With the TR25 concept, Makkina aimed to capture the essence of the TR2's aerodynamics while adding modern touches. The concept features a tonneau cover, sleek front intake, and updated headlights. The cabin is minimalist, focusing on essentials to reduce weight.
But what powers this innovative concept? Surprise! The TR25 runs on a recycled BMW i3S platform, making it an electric car. This choice was made possible with BMW's ownership of the Triumph badge. However, Makkina made significant improvements, resulting in better performance. It can go from 0 to 62mph in just 5.2 seconds and has a top speed of 115mph. The lightweight carbon fiber construction and aerodynamic aspects also give it a longer range of 190 miles.
Not only does the TR25 excel in straight line speed, but it also handles corners exceptionally well. Makkina made several enhancements, including larger brakes, lower ride height, sticky Pirelli P Zero tires, and new alloy wheels. These improvements, combined with the low center of gravity, create an enjoyable and thrilling driving experience.
Michael Ani, Director of Makkina, expressed their mission to preserve the original TR2's character while embracing new technology. The BMW i3S platform allows for a seamless blend of old and new, showcasing the best of both worlds. Driving an electric car has never been this exciting, with instant torque, smooth acceleration, and a silent ride.
