Meet the New Ford Capri: Electric Excellence with Nostalgic Charm

The new Ford Capri is set to make waves in the electric vehicle (EV) market with its impressive features and nostalgic appeal.

While the exact price is yet to be revealed, estimates suggest it will range between £40,000 and £50,000. Keep an eye on this space for updates regarding its sale date.

Trim Levels and Features

The new Capri will be available in two trims: the base Capri and the more luxurious Capri Premium. The base model comes well-equipped with a massaging driver’s seat, a 14.6-inch adjustable centre screen, and 19-inch alloy wheels.

The Capri Premium adds extra flair with ambient lighting, a hands-free tailgate, an upgraded sound system, and a standard panoramic sunroof.

Driver Assistance and Comfort

Every Capri model comes standard with a suite of driver assistance features, including reverse brake assist, intelligent adaptive cruise control, and blind spot warning.

Additional features such as a heads-up display and a 360-degree camera can be found in Ford’s Driver Assist Pack.

From my initial experience, the interior of the new Capri offers exceptional comfort and ample headroom, even in the rear seats.

The model I explored featured quilted leather seats, giving the cabin a premium feel despite some plastic elements on the dashboard.

Performance and Electric Ranges

Ford's new Capri is exclusively electric, available with two motor options. The first offers 282bhp and a range of 389 miles, while the more powerful 335bhp motor provides a range of 367 miles, according to WLTP standards.

Both models deliver impressive acceleration, reaching 0-62mph in 6.4 seconds and 5.3 seconds, respectively, with 545 Nm of torque and a top speed of 111mph.

Weight and Competitiveness

Weighing between 2098kg and 2190kg, depending on the model, the new Capri aligns with its class standards.

For comparison, the Skoda Enyaq Coupe varies from just under 2100kg to nearly 2200kg based on specifications.

Interior Design

I've had the chance to sit inside the new Capri, and its interior design blends modern aesthetics with practical elements. The dashboard is dominated by a large 14.6-inch display, complemented by sleek plastic or carbon-fibre accents.

Although the cabin features some scratchy plastic materials, it maintains an overall upscale utilitarian vibe.

A New Chapter for a Classic Name

Ford has revived the iconic Capri name for this family SUV, which is all-electric. While it's designed more for daily commutes and supermarket runs than high-speed escapades, the new Capri brings a touch of nostalgia with its name and a modern twist with its electric prowess.

We’re excited that the new all-electric Capri is ready to bring some swagger to the world of EVs and introduce a whole new generation of drivers to the spirit of a cult classic.
