Peugeot E-5008 packs in seven seats and 410-mile range.
Peugeot has unveiled its E-5008 large SUV, complete with seven seats and up to 410 miles of range.
The upcoming E-5008 is poised to make a significant impact on the electric vehicle (EV) market, especially within the emerging segment of seven-seater SUVs, where it's expected to be the most affordable option.
This innovative model will be the first to utilise the expanded Stellantis STLA Medium 'BEV-by-Design' platform, essentially offering a larger variant of the new E-3008 adorned with an additional third row of seating.
Engineered with electric mobility in mind from its inception, the E-5008 will be available in three electric configurations. The base model, known as the Electric 210 Single Motor, will sport a 213hp motor positioned on the front axle, coupled with a 73kWh battery, ensuring a range of 311 miles as per WLTP standards.
Following this, the Electric 230 Long Range Single Motor variant boasts a 231hp motor along with a larger 98kWh battery, aiming for a class-leading range of 410 miles (subject to official confirmation).
Additionally, the Electric 321 Dual Motor AWD variant will feature two motors, a 213hp on the front and a 109hp on the rear, providing a combined power of 322hp. It will utilise a 73kWh battery and is expected to deliver a 311-mile range under WLTP (pending approval).
With fast charging capabilities of up to 160kW, the E-5008 can go from 20% to 80% battery capacity in just 30 minutes. It also supports smart charging and vehicle-to-load features.
Future introductions include mild hybrid and plug-in hybrid models under the third-generation 5008 lineup. The E-5008 Hybrid 136 e-DCS6 will integrate Peugeot's 48V mild hybrid system, combining a 136hp petrol engine with an electric motor embedded in a six-speed dual-clutch gearbox. This hybrid setup aims to provide additional torque, reduce fuel consumption by up to 15%, and enable up to 50% electric-only driving in urban conditions.
The plug-in hybrid version will merge a 125hp electric motor with a 150hp petrol engine, offering an anticipated all-electric range of 50 miles (80km).
Storage capacity remains versatile, with 259 litres available with all seats in use, expanding to 748 litres and 1,815 litres as the third and second rows are respectively folded down.
The E-5008 will be available in Allure and GT trims, each accompanied by three optional packs, with offerings ranging from high-tech features to luxurious amenities aimed at enhancing the driving experience.
Among notable features, the Allure trim includes convenient technologies like keyless entry, an HD rearview camera, and advanced infotainment capabilities, while the GT trim adds luxury touches such as two-tone paintwork, Alcantara seats, and a significantly larger i-Cockpit display.
Peugeot will also provide comprehensive coverage for the E-5008 under its new Allure Care programme, guaranteeing support for eight years or 100,000 miles.
Scheduled for a winter 2024 release, the price of the E-5008 will be revealed as the launch date approaches.
