Roofless Mercedes-AMG PureSpeed Unveiled with F1 ‘Halo’ Design
Mercedes-AMG has introduced the radical PureSpeed roadster, an open-top car that comes without a windscreen or roof.
- Mercedes-AMG PureSpeed Debuts
- No roof or windscreen for this roadster
- Powered by a 4.0-liter V8 biturbo engine
- Pricing yet to be announced
Part of Mercedes-AMG’s exclusive 'Mythos' series, the design is inspired by the iconic 300 SLR racer.
Instead of a traditional windscreen, the PureSpeed features a Formula One-inspired 'Halo' structure to protect the cockpit.
Drivers will also receive aerodynamic helmets to shield themselves from the elements and manage high-speed forces, as the car accelerates from 0-62 mph in 3.6 seconds and reaches a top speed of 196 mph.
A 4.0-liter V8 biturbo engine powers the vehicle, offering 585 PS and 800 Nm of torque. This engine is paired with a Speedshift MCT 9G transmission and 4MATIC all-wheel drive for optimized performance. The combination of its powerful engine and open design ensures a truly exhilarating driving experience.
The PureSpeed’s design includes a striking two-tone paint job that fades from red to black towards the rear. Rear-wheel steering and active aerodynamics, such as an adjustable rear spoiler, further enhance its agile performance. Inside, the cabin features leather AMG Performance seats, carbon fiber details, and even a custom-made analog clock.
For unpredictable weather, the vehicle includes a stretchable protective weather cover. Strictly limited to just 250 units, the PureSpeed is expected to cost more than the £198,000 price tag of the Mercedes-AMG SL 63 S E Performance Ultimate.
