The All-New Fiat Panda EV Set for 2025 Launch

Introduction and Key Features

Fiat has announced that the eagerly awaited fourth-generation Fiat Panda will hit the market next year, positioning itself as one of the most affordable electric cars available.

Dubbed the Grande Panda, this new model boasts a larger footprint compared to its predecessor and shares the Smart Car platform with the recently released Citroën C3.

Starting at just under £22,000, the Grande Panda aims to compete with models like the Citroën e-C3, which also starts at £21,990, making it more affordable than most electric cars except for the £14,999 Dacia Spring and the £8945 Citroën Ami.

Power and Performance

At launch, the Fiat Panda EV will feature a 44kWh battery paired with a 111bhp single electric motor, offering an impressive range of 199 miles.

Additionally, a hybrid powertrain option, priced below £20,000, is expected to utilize the same 99bhp mild-hybrid engine found in the Citroën C3.

Design and Aesthetics

The production version retains the retro, blocky design of the Panda concept shown in February, including the prominent Panda branding along the sides.

This design reflects Fiat’s new brand values of “strength and uniqueness” and will influence future models in the Panda line up.

Key design elements include pixel-style headlights inspired by the windows of Fiat’s historic Lingotto factory in Turin, a chunky front skidplate, roof rails, and black lower-body cladding to emphasize its utilitarian roots.

Interior and Usability

Measuring 0.3m longer than its predecessor at 3.99m, the Grande Panda still remains below the segment's average length of 4.06m.

The five-seat interior is vibrant and features a 10.25-inch infotainment screen and a 10-inch instrument display, both incorporated into a design inspired by the Lingotto factory.

With a focus on reducing weight and cost, the cabin promises a more spacious and airy feel, making it ideal for family living and urban mobility.

Future Plans

Fiat plans to diversify the Panda family by introducing a new derivative each year until 2027. This lineup will kick off with an SUV rivaling the Dacia Duster and a Ford Puma-sized Fastback, both slated for production soon.

Importantly, the Panda range will be distinct from Fiat’s 500 family, which includes the 600 crossover and various Abarth editions.

Current Model Continuation

The existing Panda, now known as the Pandina, will remain in production until at least 2027. Fiat plans to increase production by 20% to meet strong demand, even in the car’s 13th year on the market.

A subtly updated version featuring enhanced safety functions, an upgraded driver’s display, and a new steering wheel will be available this summer, promoted as the “most technological and safest Panda ever.”

Conclusion

With the new Fiat Panda EV and its various iterations, Fiat is set to offer versatile and affordable options that cater to both electric and hybrid enthusiasts.

Starting early next year, UK deliveries will commence, making the Grande Panda an attractive choice for those seeking economical yet stylish transportation.
