Škoda gives first look at Elroq electric compact SUV
Making its global debut this autumn, the Elroq marks Škoda’s entry into the crucial compact SUV arena with its latest battery electric vehicle.
Positioned as the third Škoda model on the Volkswagen Group’s MEB modular electric platform, the Elroq joins the Enyaq and Enyaq Coupé in the lineup.
Designed as an “electric counterpart” to the Karoq, it's not yet confirmed if it will replace the latter. Details regarding its battery and range are still under wraps.
This new model is the first to feature Škoda’s Modern Solid design language, characterized by a minimalist exterior that emphasizes robustness, functionality, and authenticity, while exuding safety and strength.
Notable design elements include a split headlight configuration and the Tech-Deck Face—a contemporary take on the traditional Škoda grille, now flatter and wider. The Elroq also boasts large sports wheels and LED Matrix headlights, and prominently displays Škoda lettering on its sharply contoured hood for the first time.
According to the manufacturer, the all-new compact SUV will offer a spacious interior and exceptional practicality, staying true to Škoda’s commitment to comfort and functionality.
The launch of the Elroq signals the start of a major electric vehicle initiative for Škoda, with plans to introduce six battery-electric models in the near future. Among these is the entry-level Epiq crossover, previewed in a recent design study and slated for a full reveal in 2025. This model aims to combine practicality, ample space, and affordability, with an expected price around £25,000 (approximately £21,400).
Oliver Stefani, head of Škoda Auto Design, stated: “At Škoda, design is a crucial aspect of our brand identity and a key factor of our success. Continuously evolving our core visual elements is both a challenging and exciting endeavor. My team and I are excited to unveil the first Škoda model featuring the new Modern Solid design language, such as the Tech-Deck Face and a more robust overall aesthetic.
“Furthermore, the Elroq is our first model to showcase Škoda lettering on its sharply designed hood, setting a new standard and serving as a true eye-catcher.”
The Elroq will have its full premiere this autumn and is expected to hit the market in 2025.
